As the All People’s Congress (APC) looks towards the 2028 elections, the party’s Western Region needs leadership with experience, political confidence and a clear understanding of the work required to build a winning organisation.

That is why Kasho J. Holland-Cole deserves another term as APC Western Regional Chairman.

His case for re-election is built on a simple proposition: the party should consolidate the experience and structures already in place while using the coming years to build a stronger, more disciplined and better-organised political machine.

Holland-Cole has served as a visible figure in the APC’s Western Region, providing leadership to the regional executive and maintaining the party’s presence during an important period in Sierra Leone’s political life.

For the APC, continuity matters. Political structures require time to develop, relationships require time to mature and grassroots networks cannot be built overnight. Replacing experienced regional leadership at a critical stage could mean losing valuable institutional knowledge just when the party needs to be preparing most seriously for 2028.

Holland-Cole’s continued leadership offers the opportunity to build on what has already been established.

The Western Region is one of the APC’s most politically important areas. Its constituencies, wards and communities represent a substantial part of the party’s national political base. Effective organisation here will therefore be central to any serious attempt to compete in 2028.

Holland-Cole has been involved in APC mobilisation and political activities in the region, giving him direct experience of the demands of regional party leadership. His re-election would allow that experience to be put to work on a larger scale, with renewed emphasis on constituency organisation, ward-level mobilisation and stronger engagement with young people, women and ordinary party members.

The goal should be a party that is organised throughout the year, not only during election campaigns.

Holland-Cole has also shown that he is prepared to give the APC a public voice when important political issues arise.

In 2024, he publicly challenged comments by the then-US ambassador concerning Sierra Leone’s disputed 2023 election, speaking in his capacity as APC Western Regional Chairman. The intervention demonstrated his willingness to defend the party’s position in the national political arena.

For an opposition party, political representation requires confidence and visibility. The Western Region needs a chairman who is prepared to speak, engage and defend the party’s interests when necessary.

But leadership is not only about confronting political opponents. It is also about keeping the organisation together.

The APC Western Region encompasses different constituencies, personalities and political interests. Managing those interests requires experience, communication and a commitment to maintaining the strength of the wider organisation.

Holland-Cole’s re-election would provide continuity while creating an opportunity to strengthen cooperation across the region. A stronger regional executive, better coordination with constituency structures and closer engagement with grassroots members can make the APC more effective and more competitive.

Most importantly, the road to 2028 has already begun.

The party cannot afford to wait until an election year before thinking about organisation. The work of identifying weaknesses, strengthening local structures, mobilising supporters and preparing the next generation of party activists must begin well in advance.

Holland-Cole already understands the regional structure and its political terrain. That experience gives him a head start.

His next term can therefore be about moving from organisation to consolidation, and from consolidation to electoral readiness.

The case for Kasho J. Holland-Cole is ultimately a case for continuity with ambition.

It is about retaining a chairman who knows the region, understands the responsibilities of the position and has already operated within the APC’s regional leadership structure.

It is also about giving that leadership a renewed mandate to strengthen the grassroots, bring the party’s structures closer together and prepare the Western Region for the political contest ahead.

The APC does not simply need leadership for today. It needs leadership capable of preparing for tomorrow.

With 2028 approaching, Kasho J. Holland-Cole offers the experience, visibility and organisational familiarity from which the APC Western Region can build its next phase.

Re-elect Kasho J. Holland-Cole. Strengthen the structure. Mobilise the grassroots. Build unity. Prepare for 2028.
