Sierra Leone’s leading sports betting and lottery company, Mercury International, on Monday, October 6, 2025, paid out a total of Seven Hundred and Thirty-One Thousand New Leones (NLe 731,000) to two lucky customers from its Football Betting product.
One of the big winners of the day was Mohamed A. Jalloh, a baker residing in Freetown, who walked away with Five Hundred and Forty-Six Thousand New Leones (NLe 546,000).
Narrating his road to success to the press, Mohamed said he played a total of 31 teams from the Online Football Mega List, placing different combinations of bets with a total stake of Ten Thousand New Leones (NLe 10,000), betting Five Thousand Leones (NLe 5,000) on each combination.
“I feel really blessed to win again, and this time, it is my biggest win. I hope to keep winning with Mercury International,” he said.
The proud baker, who in May this year won Two Hundred Million Old Leones, and also had another win in September, revealed that he had the opportunity to win even more — up to One Billion Six Hundred Million Leones — but chose to cash out early out of fear of losing.
“If I had waited just a bit longer, I would’ve won much more, but I was nervous and decided to cash out. In the end, all 31 of my selected teams ended up winning,” he added.
Mohamed praised Mercury International for their transparency and prompt payment process.
“Mercury International continues to prove they are the best and biggest in Sierra Leone and are not fake. As soon as you win, they issue your cheque, and you can cash out immediately. I want to encourage others to try it. You have so many chances to win.”
Another big winner of the day, Ishmael, a businessman from Kambia District, shared his excitement after winning One Hundred and Eighty-Five Thousand New Leones (NLe 185,000) from the Red Box Football Betting.
“This came as a total surprise. I wasn’t expecting it because it was a risk bet — I staked One Thousand Two Hundred Leones (NLe 1,200), but it paid off in a big way,” he said.
According to Ishmael, who has been playing Mercury bets for years, his win came at a crucial time in his life and means a lot to him.
Octavius Jackson, Deputy Manager of Mercury Online, explained that Ishmael received a 100% bonus on his winnings due to the high number of selections he made on his ticket.
“Because of the number of selections, his ticket qualified for a 100% bonus. That was why his prize doubled, bringing the total payout to NLe 185 Million Old Leones,” Jackson stated.
Monday’s winners’ presentation served as both a celebration for the winners and a reaffirmation of Mercury International’s commitment to rewarding loyal and daring customers.
