Leader of the DIB Movement and All People’s Congress (APC) presumptive flagbearer, Dr. Ibrahim Bangura, has said his political movement is focused on shaping the future rather than revisiting past grievances.
Dr. Bangura made the remarks on Wednesday in Makeni during a meeting with APC district executives and party stakeholders in Bombali District, shortly after joining Muslims for Eid-ul-Adha prayers.
The engagement, held in the APC stronghold of Makeni, brought together senior district officials and party supporters, many of whom expressed confidence in his leadership and growing national profile.
Speaking to supporters, Dr. Bangura thanked residents of Bombali for their continued loyalty to the APC, describing the district as “the heart of the party.” He called for what he described as a national reset, citing ongoing socio-economic challenges, and urged supporters to focus on rebuilding rather than division.
He also appealed for unity within the party, condemning violence during internal elections and urging aspirants and supporters to conduct campaigns with discipline and mutual respect. “There is life after elections,” he said.
Dr. Bangura further stressed the need to expand opportunities for women and young people, saying inclusive development was essential for a peaceful and united Sierra Leone.
Bombali District Chairman, Dr. Martin Bangura, described the visit as a proud moment for the district, saying Dr. Bangura’s decision to pray with worshippers during Eid reflected humility and grassroots commitment.
Also speaking, Hon. Salieu Osman Turay, popularly known as SOS, praised former APC leader Ernest Bai Koroma, while describing Dr. Bangura as “a younger version” of the former president and a leading contender for the party’s flagbearer position.
He also said at least five women’s groups in the district had openly declared support for Dr. Bangura’s leadership bid.
