A British-Nigerian businessman and social media influencer has died after a cosmetic penis enlargement procedure in Thailand caused a fatal pulmonary embolism.
Igho “Tiny” Ubiribo, 43, died in March after receiving injections containing hyaluronic acid and lidocaine at a clinic in Bangkok.
The procedure took place while Mr. Ubiribo was on holiday in Thailand with his wife, Danielle Simba Allen.
About 40ml of the filler was injected into his penis.
After the procedure, Ubiribo and his wife went for a massage. He subsequently complained of chest pain and fainted twice.
He was taken by ambulance to Sukhumvit Hospital, where doctors diagnosed a pulmonary embolism. He later lost consciousness and died in the early hours of 6 March after attempts to resuscitate him.
A UK postmortem found material in his lungs consistent with the hyaluronic acid used in the procedure. An earlier examination in Thailand reached a similar finding.
The coroner concluded that Ubiribo died from a pulmonary embolism caused by the injection of hyaluronic acid into his penis.
Mr. Ubiribo, who was also known online as Denisi and Ego, had built a substantial following on social media and was known for documenting a luxury lifestyle.
The case has highlighted the potentially serious complications associated with cosmetic penile filler procedures.
