The All People’s Congress (APC) says it has raised concerns over the implementation of the Agreement for National Unity (ANU), electoral integrity, and broader governance challenges during an engagement with international moral guarantors.
The ANU is a post-election political framework established to address governance disputes and electoral concerns through structured dialogue and reform commitments. Its implementation is being monitored by international moral guarantors drawn from regional and multilateral institutions, who continue to facilitate engagement between political actors.
In a press statement issued on 14 April 2026, the APC described the meeting as “substantive and frank,” stating that it presented its position on delays in implementing the Tripartite Committee recommendations, as well as wider constitutional and governance concerns affecting the country.
The party said its views were clearly articulated and received by the moral guarantors and international partners present, describing the engagement as a significant step in its ongoing political and legal advocacy.
The APC also criticised the timing of the sentencing of businesswoman Zainab Sheriff, describing it as “deeply troubling” and arguing that it risked undermining public confidence in the dialogue and reconciliation process. It said the development raised concerns about fairness and the broader political climate.
Reaffirming its position, the party said it would pursue its concerns through appropriate national, regional, and international mechanisms while continuing engagement within constitutional and legal frameworks.
The statement also referenced recent political developments, including the appointment of Edmond Sylvester Alpha and remarks by the ruling SLPP, which it said were being considered as part of its internal review.
The APC has also maintained its withdrawal from participation in national and local governance structures, linking the move to unresolved concerns over electoral and governance reforms under the ANU framework.
The party added that it is currently consolidating its position following the engagement and will announce its next steps in due course, urging members and supporters to remain calm, disciplined, and united.
The APC reaffirmed its commitment to justice, democratic accountability, and the rule of law.
