The All People’s Congress (APC) has postponed its constituency elections by one week following consultations with the Political Parties Regulation Commission (PPRC).

The elections, which had been scheduled for Saturday, 4 July, will now be held on Saturday, 11 July 2026.

In a statement issued by the party’s National Secretariat, the APC said the decision followed a consultative meeting between its leadership and the PPRC at Tower Hill in Freetown, as well as an advisory note issued by the Commission on 2 July.

The party said the postponement would allow additional time to complete outstanding internal consultations and administrative processes needed to ensure what it described as a transparent, credible and orderly electoral process nationwide.

The APC said the revised timetable should not be interpreted as a retreat from its commitment to internal democracy. Instead, it said the delay reflects its determination to conduct peaceful, credible and inclusive constituency elections that command the confidence of party members and other stakeholders.

The party also acknowledged that it is facing internal challenges but expressed confidence that unity, discipline, patience and loyalty among members would help it overcome its current difficulties.

The APC has called on aspirants, delegates, members and party officials to remain calm, law-abiding and committed to maintaining unity while preparations continue for the constituency elections on 11 July.
