The Chief Executive Officer of Africell Sierra Leone, Shadi Gerjawi, has officially commissioned the newly renovated Bo Clock Tower, marking a key milestone in the company’s ongoing support for community development and cultural preservation.

The ceremony, held in Bo earlier today, brought together local authorities, community stakeholders and residents who gathered to witness the unveiling of the upgraded landmark. The clock tower, a longstanding symbol of the city’s identity, has undergone extensive renovation aimed at preserving its historical significance for future generations.

Speaking at the event, Gerjawi said Africell’s role goes beyond providing telecommunications services, stressing the importance of investing in projects that promote national heritage and community pride.

“This project demonstrates our commitment to the people of Sierra Leone beyond connectivity. We believe in supporting initiatives that celebrate the country’s rich history and strengthen community identity,” he said.

The Mayor of Bo City Council, Kobba Musa, also praised Africell for its continued contributions to infrastructure and community growth, describing the company as a reliable development partner.

“Africell na serious network,” he remarked, highlighting its dual role in improving connectivity and supporting initiatives that uplift communities.

Residents welcomed the facelift of the iconic structure, saying it has restored pride in one of Bo’s most recognisable landmarks. Many described the renovation as both timely and impactful, particularly in preserving the city’s historical identity amid ongoing modernisation.

The Bo Clock Tower project forms part of Africell Sierra Leone’s broader corporate social responsibility agenda, which focuses on community empowerment, infrastructure development and cultural preservation nationwide.

With this commissioning, Africell continues to position itself not just as a telecommunications provider, but as a key partner in Sierra Leone’s social and cultural advancement.
