The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has launched an investigation into the Sierra Leone Law School following a formal complaint filed by its governing body, the Council of Legal Education, against the institution’s Director, Abu Bakarr Bangura.

In a public statement, the Commission confirmed that it has commenced a probe into the matter and aims to conclude investigations within a month, subject to the full cooperation of all parties involved. It urged stakeholders connected to the case to assist in ensuring a transparent and expeditious process.

The investigation comes amid mounting tensions within the Law School that have increasingly played out in the public sphere. In recent weeks, disputes between the Director and members of the Council have centred on allegations of administrative misconduct, governance concerns, and broader disagreements over the institution’s management.

The controversy has been further fuelled by claims and counterclaims, including accusations of intimidation and harassment, as well as references to past internal reviews and calls for accountability. While many of these allegations remain contested, they have drawn significant public attention due to the Law School’s pivotal role in training Sierra Leone’s legal professionals.

Against this backdrop, the ACC said it remains committed to its mandate of combating corruption and promoting accountability across the public sector. The Commission also reassured the public of its determination to handle the matter with diligence and independence, adding that further updates will be provided as the investigation progresses.
