The tasks ahead are daunting, especially in our case, the situation is serious- Pres. Bio

His Excellency President Dr Julius Maada Bio has presided over the swearing-in ceremony of the fourth set of approved ministers and a deputy, a solemn requirement for such public officials who commit to support, uphold and maintain the Constitution of Sierra Leone.

This time, two Ministers, Ambassador Alhaji Fanday Turay, Minister of Transport and Aviation and Mohamed Orman Bangura, Minister of Youth Affairs with Mrs Francess Piagie Alghali, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation were sworn in.

Ambassador Alhaji Fanday Turay, on behalf of his colleagues, thanked the Almighty Allah for making the day possible and for also guarding the hearts and minds of Sierra Leoneans to re-elect President Julius Maada Bio for a second term. He prayed for God’s blessings on the President with the vision and wisdom to consolidate the gains from his first term.

“I wish to acknowledge the important work ahead and the need to work collaboratively to ensure the successful discharge of the collective responsibility of cabinet and to deliver for the people of Sierra Leone, based on the commitments made by the President. His Excellency, we want to assure you of our commitment to work and deliver on the manifesto promises and even more,” he assured.

President Julius Maada Bio noted that the ministers were no strangers to public service and that they already knew the tasks ahead of them in their respective roles.

“The tasks ahead are daunting, especially in our case, the situation is serious. Consequently, I am calling on all of you to be mindful of the fact that government is a unit and if we are to succeed, you must work with other ministers and ministries,” the President advised.

He reminded the appointees that as a government they had to deliver and ensure that they achieved the promises made to the electorate, adding that they could always count on him to support the new direction in their respective ministries.
