SLFA confirms Kallon’s appointment

Mohamed Kallon, the former Inter Milan and Monaco forward has officially been appointed as the new head coach of the Leone Stars, replacing his former teammate Amidu Karim, according to a press statement from the Sierra Leone Football Association.

This followed weeks after he was rumored to have been appointed as head coach of Sierra Leone’s senior male national team.

“Kallon, one of Sierra Leone’s most celebrated footballers, will assume his duties effective immediately as the team prepares for the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers,” the statement adds, noting “Leone Stars are set to face Guinea Bissau and Egypt next month, with Kallon leading the charge.”

The SLFA says they will officially unveil Mohamed “Kallon at a press conference scheduled for a date that will be announced later.”

“This appointment marks a significant step forward for Sierra Leone football, as Kallon brings a wealth of experience, passion, and leadership to the national team. The SLFA is confident in his ability to inspire and guide Leone Stars on the global stage.”
