A devastating fire outbreak has caused massive destruction on traders in Bo after a storehouse where their goods are kept was burnt down by an unknown fire.
The fire which engulfed the building known as the “Bo Pan Body” in the morning hours of Sunday 24th March, 2024, continued till in the afternoon as fire fighters and community members fought tirelessly to put it out.
The incident happened on a day when most shops and market places are closed across the country. Some traders had to be called by residents or relatives, others hearing of the shocking incident swiftly took to the scene. Hundreds of traders fall victim to the unfortunate incident accounting for huge loss which worth millions of leones.
The Sierra Leone Police (SLP) had to intervene to control the mammoth number of traders and onlookers after the place became so chaotic with report of alleged theft from some individuals who came in the guise of rendering help.
Among key stakeholders who visited the scene include the Resident Minister South, Mohamed E.K. Allie, Bo City Mayor Kobba Musa, the media among others.
As investigations are underway to determine the cause of the fire, the exact details of what led to the heartbreaking event remain unknown.
Some traders who refused speaking to the media because of the shock were in tears. They were lamenting over the incident describing it as a very big setback claiming of making huge investment into their respective business.
