President Bio’s recent cabinet exudes youthful exuberance

Sierra Leone’s President Julius Maada Bio has announced his second set of ministerial and other appointments since his reelection in June this year.
Unlike appointments in his first term as democratically elected president of the Republic of Sierra Leone, these ones seem to capture the involvement of more youth in governance.
Key positions as the top-most – chief minister, foreign minister, information minister, justice minister and many smaller ones like the youth minister himself and most deputy positions have been entrusted to youth the President.
Many have described this as a huge progress for youth- a show of trust also, which they need to justify.
The appointees have been praised for being grounded in their areas of appointments despite growing concerns by critics of their abilities to deliver.

Alpha Sesay, Deputy Justice Minister

There’s also been concerns of a bloated cabinet by the president.
Ministers, deputies and other presidential appointees have been added.
And this, many think, will just be an additional burden to an already struggling economy.
