A final-year student of the Freetown Polytechnic, Mohamed Jalloh, has made history by becoming the first-ever winner of the Mercury International Online Jackpot 1×2 promotion in Sierra Leone.
At just 28 years old, Jalloh secured an impressive prize of Twenty-Two Thousand, Seven Hundred and Fifty-Eight United States Dollars (US$22,758.91), which amounts to Six Hundred and Seven Thousand, Six Hundred and Sixty-Two New Leones (NLe 607,662.90). Remarkably, he achieved this victory after placing a bet of just Five New Leones (NLe 5), equivalent to approximately US$1.90.
Jalloh, who has been a consistent Mercury International player for over four years, shared his excitement: “I’ve won before, but nothing as big as this Jackpot 1×2 prize. When I saw my online betting account and realized I had won, I was speechless and couldn’t sleep. It only sunk in after I visited the Mercury office and confirmed my win.”
While still considering what to do with his windfall, Jalloh said he would decide with the guidance of his mother.
Before officially receiving his cheque, Jalloh had a message for doubters and fellow Mercury International customers: “Mercury International is real. It’s an entire industry without any fake or false promises. There are no delays in payments. They’re genuinely helping people, even creating employment opportunities for the unemployed.”
At the cheque presentation, held at the company’s headquarters on Krootown Road, Mercury International’s Deputy Online Manager, Octavus Jackson, congratulated Jalloh and advised him to use the money wisely. Jackson also encouraged others to try their luck and take advantage of the various promotions offered by Mercury International online.
Jalloh’s historic win came after successfully predicting all 15 1X2 results, including Leicester City’s dramatic 98th-minute comeback to beat Southampton after trailing 2-0.
