A man in Koidu City, Kono- Kono District, has reportedly escaped from police custody few days after a daughter of his dad’s friend got missing. Tamba Nanoh, a farmer who was living with his father in Markor village in Kono narrated days before escaping the police that on the 27th of February 2022, a daughter of his dad’s friend, Theresa Major had gone to farm with his son at their farm.
According to Tamba, he had sent eleven years old Theresa and his son to their farmhouse to go and prepare food for themselves while he was busy working on the farm.
Tamba said that after a while he went to the farmhouse to check on them when he realized that Theresa wasn’t there. “I asked my son to tell me the whereabouts of Theresa when he told me she had gone to the village to bring fire for their cooking. I waited a while but couldn’t see her then I decided to search the area yet she wasn’t around to be seen,” he stated.
He noted that they would later go to the police to help them with the search but again to no avail. Tamba disclosed that the involvement of the police wasn’t a good story for him as he was arrested and locked up.
However, Tamba said he could escape when the police took him out to aid their search for the girl in the bush.
“We went to the village and asked about her but the people in the village said they didn’t see her, and then we started to look for her until the police involved, arrested and locked me up.”
Tamba said that on the 10th of March, 2022, he was informed by some family sources that the police were able to see the dress of the lost girl in some other part of the bush where he, Tamba Nanoh used to work.
“The met blood stains on the dress of the girl with a knife I had used to work with adjacent it. The police could therefore confirm that the girl is dead and I am responsible for her death. The villagers have also accused me of killing most of the children in their village and they are now pursuing me.”
