Team Manager of Sierra Leone senior national football team Leone Stars, Babadi Kamara, has resigned from his position.
Reason (s) for his resignation is unclear. However, many sports fans have speculated a possible ministerial appointment for the Bo Rangers Executive Chairman from the Ruling Government.
Responding to the rumor in a social media group, Kamara wrote:
“Fact: I have resigned.
Rumors of me being appointed are not true.
“We dae Salone football tigie”.
It could be recalled that on Thursday 22 July 2021, the Executive Committee of the Sierra Leone Football Association SLFA approved the appointment of Babadi Kamara to serve serve in the said position. His contract which was subjected to renewal was due to come to an end on July 31st, 2023.
Babadi Kamara who is also the CEO of the newly constructed Southern Arena, the first privately owned (six thousand capacity) stadium in the country, played a key role as Team Manager during Leone Stars’ participation in the ToatalEnergies AFCON 2021 tournament in Cameroon.
The sports enthusiast is being applauded by many for his immense contribution in giving a facelift to football in the country.
