The Political Parties Regulation Commission (PPRC) has lifted its suspension of the All People’s Congress (APC) after the opposition party settled an outstanding fine of Le350,000.

The Commission had earlier suspended the APC for failing to meet a payment deadline linked to sanctions imposed over alleged violations. The move briefly halted the party’s political operations.

However, within hours of the suspension announcement, the APC paid the full amount, prompting the regulator to reverse its decision.

In a letter dated 11 February 2026 and addressed to the APC Secretariat, the PPRC confirmed receipt of the payment and formally reinstated the party.

“Following the Party’s compliance with the payment of the fines imposed, the Commission is pleased to notify your Party that the suspension is hereby lifted with immediate effect,” the Commission stated.

The decision restores the APC’s full operational status, allowing it to resume meetings, internal elections and other political activities in line with the Political Parties Act No. 25 of 2022.

The PPRC also reminded the party of its obligation to adhere strictly to the provisions of the law and to ensure continued compliance with regulatory directives governing registered political parties.

The brief suspension and rapid reversal underscore the Commission’s enforcement posture, while highlighting the financial and administrative pressures facing political parties under the current regulatory framework.
