Sierra Leone’s ministry of health and sanitation has disclosed that eight people are currently receiving treatment at the Ola During Children’s Hospital (ODCH) for a suspected food poisoning incident at Mill Street, around Magazine Court in Freetown.
This is just after the ministry had disclosed that “all survivors of the alleged food poisoning incident at the Mabella Community have now been discharged, but for the 2 who were admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).”
According to the ministry, the current incident has resulted in the hospitalization of 4 males and 4 females.
“No death has been reported and the affected individuals are reported to be stable; all thanks to the swift medical intervention of staff at ODCH.”
The ministry says it’s actively working with The National Public Health Agency and the District Health Medical Team (DHMT) to investigate the source of the suspected food poison with the aim of preventing further occurrences of such problem.
“As the Ministry continues with its investigation, the public is urged to remain calm and be vigilant in prioritizing their health and safety.”
