President of Africa First Ladies, Dr. Fatima Maada Bio, has yesterday, March 4,2025, joined her brothers and sisters working at Koidu Limited Mining Company in Kono Town in a peaceful protest aimed at advocating for better working conditions and fair treatment of employees. As a proud daughter of the soil, Dr. Fatima Maada Bio stood in solidarity with the workers, reinforcing her commitment to social justice and workers’ rights in Sierra Leone.

The protest was driven by key demands to improve the welfare of employees at Koidu Limited, including:

1: Recognition of the workers’ union to enhance representation and collective bargaining.

2: Living allowances to support workers’ livelihoods.

3: A 30% salary increment to reflect economic realities.

4: Overtime compensation for extra hours worked.

5: Provision of incentives to motivate and reward workers.

6: Access to safe drinking water to promote health and hygiene.

7: Freedom of financial choice for employees to manage their finances without restrictions.
