Below this post stands and glows a harvest of inspiring words OF A WINNER, Mohamed Gento Kamara.
Gento’s brilliant concession note, so timely delivered too, is a shiny testimony to the fact that in life, VICTORY does not always or only lie in being declared the Winner of a race or contest.
Sometimes VICTORY comes in the form of RECOGNISING others who have been duly declared winners, even when you believe or think there might be issues worth considering and a bit of ground to pursue those reasons.
Mr. Mohamed Gento Kamara entered the race for Mayor of Freetown not to seek a personal agenda but to pursue his passion of helping people. He wanted to expand the platform from whence he could extend that helping hand to many more, through a vision that he has crafted to reflect the collective dream.
Gento is gracious enough to accept that he can still continue working on his passion of helping others even without the Mayor’s Mace. He is patriotic enough to recognise that the verdict of the voters, as announced by the Electoral Commissioner, must be respected and the peace of the city (and country) must be placed above all other considerations!
Thank you Mr. Mohamed Kamara, your great attitude and decision places you in a winning bracket that is worthy of admiration and deserving of commendation!
The People of Freetown will treasure your magnanimity in this brilliant response to the results of a hard fought race!
CONGRATULATIONS to you and to your hardworking team (including your very supportive wife) for such an amazing display of political maturity, personal humility and touching humanity!
No individual or group of individuals has/have the right to threaten to tear the country apart or set the nation alight simply because he/they have lost a political contest. You don’t need to be a mayor or minister or a president to help your people. You only have to be genuinely caring to rise above entrenched personal interests.
THE PEACE OF SIERRA LEONE and the interests of its People are far more important than the winning or the loss of any single individual or political party. Political contests must not be fought with the determination of I win or the country sinks!
Once again THANK YOU for a well fought contest and for accepting the results announced by the body constitutionally mandated to do that job! You have displayed the true spirit of the ONE COUNTRY ONE PEOPLE ideal. I am sure that our leader and President, His Excellency President Julius Maada Bio would be proud of you as would all peace loving Sierra Leoneans, for your courageous and inspiring stand.
Let us all join hands together to push the national vision of President Bio in its desired direction. For that is what would ultimately ensure VICTORY for all Sierra Leoneans, no matter who you are or what you do!
