Africell Sierra Leone has reaffirmed its commitment to national development by sponsoring more than 165 events across the country between January and June 2026, positively impacting over 30,000 people through strategic investments in education, entertainment, youth empowerment, sports, religion, health and community development.
For many Sierra Leoneans, Africell is more than a telecommunications company. It has become a trusted partner in national development, extending its impact beyond mobile connectivity to classrooms, football fields, concert venues, religious gatherings, health campaigns and community initiatives across the country.
According to Africell’s Senior Manager for Events and Sponsorship, Nancy Lucia Joseph Turay, the company’s sustained investment in communities reflects a long-standing commitment to empowering people and creating opportunities.
She said education, entertainment and youth empowerment accounted for the largest share of Africell’s sponsorship portfolio during the first half of 2026, underscoring the company’s belief that investing in young people is key to building a stronger and more prosperous Sierra Leone.
“Our focus is not just on connecting people through technology, but also on connecting them with opportunities that transform lives. By investing in education, entertainment and youth empowerment, we are contributing to the development of the next generation of Sierra Leoneans,” she said.
Turay explained that Africell’s sponsorship programme goes far beyond brand visibility. Instead, she described it as a meaningful expression of the company’s gratitude to the people who have supported the brand since it began operations in Sierra Leone in 2006.
Through partnerships with schools, youth organisations, artists, sporting institutions, religious bodies and government agencies, Africell continues to champion initiatives that promote social cohesion, nurture local talent and contribute to sustainable national development.
She noted that community investment remains a cornerstone of Africell’s corporate philosophy, with its sponsorship portfolio carefully designed to deliver broad national impact across education, health, sports, religion, entertainment, empowerment programmes and government initiatives.
“This diversified approach enables us to support initiatives that touch every segment of society while strengthening partnerships with institutions, communities and development stakeholders across the country,” Turay said.
She added that Africell views every sponsorship as an investment in people and the nation’s future, with each partnership aimed at creating lasting social impact, inspiring innovation, promoting talent and improving lives.
With more than 165 events sponsored and over 30,000 people reached in just six months, Africell Sierra Leone continues to demonstrate that its contribution extends well beyond telecommunications. Through sustained investments in people, communities and national development, the company is helping to create opportunities, empower the next generation and contribute to Sierra Leone’s social and economic progress.
