With two consecutive victories in the National Division One Playoffs, Waterloo FC has emerged as one of the early pace-setters in the race for promotion to the Sierra Leone Premier League.
The Western Area Rural side has made a perfect start to its campaign, collecting six points from its opening two matches and placing itself in a strong position in the promotion race.
Waterloo FC began its playoff journey with a determined performance against Great Scarcies, securing victory through goals from Toby Dargbeh, who found the net in the 56th minute, and Ibrahim Kamara, who sealed the result with an effort in the 78th minute. The win provided the club with an important early boost and set the tone for its promotion ambitions.
The team continued its impressive form in the second match against AI Kallon, where Rashid Bangura opened the scoring in the 47th minute as Waterloo FC secured another valuable victory. The result further strengthened the club’s position among the leading contenders in the group.
Beyond the points gained, Waterloo FC has demonstrated consistency, discipline, and the ability to deliver results under pressure. Winning the first two fixtures has not only boosted the team’s confidence but has also increased the pressure on their closest rivals, many of whom can no longer afford further setbacks.
With two group-stage matches remaining, Waterloo FC remains firmly in control of its own promotion ambitions. Another positive result would significantly strengthen the club’s chances of securing one of the Premier League promotion places.
However, the team must remain focused. Football has repeatedly shown that strong starts alone do not guarantee success. Maintaining discipline, concentration, and the same winning mentality will be crucial as the competition enters its decisive stage.
For the players, technical staff, supporters, and the entire Waterloo community, the dream of Premier League football is now closer than ever. The foundation has been laid, and the challenge now is to complete the journey.
If Waterloo FC can sustain its current momentum, the club will be well positioned to secure one of the coveted promotion spots and write another memorable chapter in its history.
