The All People’s Congress (APC) has paid the one hundred and twenty thousand Leones (NLe 120,000) fine imposed by the Political Parties Regulation Commission (PPRC) over remarks made by the party’s Falaba District Chairman, Hon. Lahai Marah, bringing an intense two week stand off to an end.

The Commission, in a public release dated 2 December 2025, confirmed receipt of the payment from the APC leadership. This comes on the final day of the fourteen day compliance period, which began on Monday, 17 November 2025, when the fine was first issued.

The PPRC found the APC in violation of Section 39(1)(d) of the Political Parties Act (No. 25) of 2022, following comments made by Hon. Marah on Saturday, 15 November 2025. The party had earlier insisted that it would not pay unless the Commission proved beyond reasonable doubt that an offence was committed.

According to the PPRC Chairman, APC Secretary General Lansana Dumbuya contacted the Commission on 1 December to indicate the party’s intention to settle the fine, and followed up on 2 December to complete the payment in full.

In its statement, the Commission expressed appreciation to the APC for complying with the penalty and encouraged the party to ensure that its members, supporters, and operatives conduct themselves in accordance with the law going forward.

Whether the PPRC ultimately satisfied the evidentiary threshold demanded by the APC remains known only to the two institutions.
