The President of the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA), Babadi Kamara, has presented a formal sponsorship proposal for the upcoming FA Cup to Africell’s Chief Executive Officer, Shadi Gerjawi, as part of ongoing efforts to deepen corporate partnerships and boost football development in the country.

The presentation took place earlier this week following an initial engagement between the two institutions. President Kamara expressed appreciation for Africell’s consistent support toward national progress and its strong record as a leading corporate citizen in Sierra Leone.

“My administration is determined to change the trajectory of football in Sierra Leone,” Kamara said. “We have a duty to restore the image of our game, attract sponsorship, and ensure our teams can compete at the highest levels. The FA Cup is the country’s biggest competition, and we would like to partner with Africell to make it a national success when it kicks off in January.”

Kamara also emphasized the ongoing work to complete the SLFA Secretariat, describing it as a vital step toward improving professionalism and operational efficiency within the association.

Responding to the proposal, Africell CEO Shadi Gerjawi praised Kamara’s vision and reaffirmed Africell’s interest in supporting initiatives that empower young people through sports.

“We will study the proposal carefully and respond soon, as January is fast approaching,” Gerjawi said. “Africell is optimistic about supporting most—if not all—aspects of the plan, particularly the completion of the new SLFA Secretariat.”

Following the meeting, Gerjawi and his team were given a guided tour of the Secretariat’s ongoing construction work, underscoring the growing partnership between the SLFA and Africell in promoting football and youth development across Sierra Leone.
