Newly elected Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) President Babadi Kamara has received strong backing from His Excellency Brigadier (Rtd.) Julius Maada Bio, following a high-level meeting at State House in Freetown earlier today.

Leading a delegation of SLFA executives—including Vice President 1, Ali Badara Tarawallie—Kamara formally introduced his team to the President. The visit was facilitated by Dr. Emmanuel Saffa Abdulai, Executive Director of the National Sports Authority (NSA), and Madam Augusta James-Teima, Minister of Sports.

During the meeting, President Kamara presented a bold and structured roadmap for football development, highlighting a nationwide agenda that prioritizes talent discovery, organizational discipline, and financial accountability. His plan includes:
• Reviving Inter-Secondary School and Inter-District Leagues to nurture grassroots talent.
• Forging partnerships with mining companies and corporate institutions to mobilize additional resources for the game.
• Collaborating with the NSA and Ministry of Sports to strengthen administrative and operational structures.
• Upholding discipline, strong financial management, and transparency at all levels of football governance.

Kamara described his executive as the most regionally inclusive in SLFA history, with representation from across the country. He also noted his record-breaking victory as a mandate for reform and progress.

“We are already engaging corporate players to secure long-term support for football,” Kamara said, assuring the President that any assistance from government and partners would be used strictly for its intended purpose.

President Bio, a long-time supporter of sports development, congratulated the new SLFA leadership and commended Kamara’s corporate outreach efforts.

“Our nation has a deep love for football, and I’m encouraged by this new direction,” he said. “My government will continue investing in football and other sports. We want to see our national teams thrive, our Premier League flourish, and our young people benefit from opportunities that the sport brings.”

He also emphasized that football can play a vital role in youth employment, national unity, and talent development, stressing the need for broad partnerships beyond government support alone.

The meeting marks a turning point for Sierra Leonean football, as Kamara’s leadership takes center stage. With a reformist vision and full presidential backing, expectations are high both on and off the pitch.

Fans and stakeholders alike are watching closely to see how these promises will transform into action—signaling what could be the beginning of a new era for the country’s most beloved sport.
