The World Food Programme (WFP) officially
handed over solar-powered boreholes to four
communities including Koindukura, Kambaya,
Teremafeh and Walia across Mongo and Sulima
Chiefdoms in Falaba district.
Funded by the Peace Building Fund, this
project aims to enhance water access and
livestock nutrition by introducing improved grass
species. The initiative supports cattle nutrition
during dry seasons and agricultural periods when
livestock are restricted to prevent crop damage.
By combining water and forage solutions, WFP
seeks to mitigate farmer-herder conflicts and
promote social cohesion in the region.

The project is expected to improve livelihoods, reduce
resource-based tensions, and foster sustainable
development in Falaba district.
This intervention aligns with broader
peacebuilding and resilience efforts, ensuring
long-term benefits for both farmers and
herders. The use of renewable energy (solar
pumps) also underscores WFP’s commitment
to environmentally sustainable solutions.
