The Sierra Leone Football Association’s (SLFA) Ordinary Congress, scheduled for April 5, 2025, was abruptly halted after SLFA President Thomas Daddy Brima left the venue without notifying delegates. Despite over 30 of the 57 expected delegates already present and registered, the Congress could not proceed.
SLFA Vice President 1, Harold Nat-Johnson, informed attendees that the Congress was postponed and that FIFA had been notified. He cited Article 37.3 of the SLFA statute, which grants the president sole authority to convene Congress, making it impossible to proceed in his absence.
SLFA Vice President 2, Alie Badara Tarawallie, said efforts to contact President Brima had been unsuccessful. While Brima reportedly left citing security concerns, this was dismissed by the Assistant Inspector General of Police, who confirmed that sufficient security was in place.
Delegates, including Foday Anthony and Mohamed Sesay, urged the Executive to reconvene within 24 hours as per the statute and warned of possible legal action if procedures are not followed.
The Congress was meant to approve the revised statutes, finalize committee appointments, and set the stage for the upcoming elective Congress. A new date for reconvening will be announced soon.
