300 British citizens fly out

Simon Mustard, British High Commissioner in Sierra Leone on Wednesday 22nd April 2020 confirmed that approximately three hundred stranded British Citizens will be living the shores of Sierra Leone on a chartered flight to the United Kingdom (UK).

Mustard said the stranded were in Sierra Leone for a short visit and they are returning back to see their families and friends back home, and they will be flying with Titan Airways.

He said the chartered flight was organized by a company in UK, and the British Government is doing it for all of their citizens across the world.

“There are many British nationals that are currently stranded across the world we are trying to get them back home as soon as possible,” he said.

He added that the exit of the British citizens has nothing to do with the increasing rate of Corona Virus in Country but that the British government is assisting its citizens in a bid to help them connect with their families and friends back home.

“Many British Citizens have been staying here and will continue to stay here and help the government in the fight against corona virus,” he pointed out.

Mustard mentioned that the UK has been standing shoulder to shoulder with the government at the time of disasters, Ebola and more, and will continue to do so as a close partner to Sierra Leone.
