Chairman Kasho Cole appointed to lead fight against drugs and substance abuse 

The government of President Julius Maada Bio has appointed the chairman of the Western Area Rural District Council( WARDC), Kasho Joseph Holland Cole, to serve as Chairman, National Taskforce on Drugs and Substance Abuse.  

A letter from the Ministry of Local Government and Community Affairs, addressed to the Western Area Regional Chairman of Sierra Leone’s main opposition All People’s Congress (APC) on the 10th June, 2024, states that the district council chairman, who’s regarded as “All Man Paddy,” will serve as “the Pillar Lead for Community Engagement on the National Task Force on Drugs and Substance Abuse, with focus on the KUSH Epidemic.”

“In this capacity, you will be responsible for managing and coordinating the resources; human, financial and assets of the Task Force Response in your District,” the letter instructs.

Chairman Cole is informed that he will be working with the District Medical Officer (DMO), who will serve as his Deputy Chair. 

“Collectively, you will be responsible for the operations and management of the Response in your District. We encourage you to work together so that you can deliver on the mandate given to you to jointly manage the operations of the Response.”
